A two-hospital day! We first went off to Oakland Kaiser to have Tim's labs done. Then, we headed off to Richmond Kaiser for his surgery to install the port.
The surgery went well and Tim now has his port ready for chemo. It all went amazingly quickly and in a few hours, we were back home.
Late today, we got Tim's lab results. His "total bilirubin” count came in at 1.1, and needed to be 1.2 or lower. But, his "direct bilirubin" was 0.4 and needed to be 0.3 or lower. When Tim talked with his oncologist last week, she was almost certain that it was only the "total bilirubin" that mattered for the clinical trial. But, she needed to confirm this. So... now we wait to hear back from her and how these mixed results will pan out. Once again, keep your fingers crossed and send lots of good vibes our way.
